Nd:Ce:YAG Laser Rod Crystals For IPL and Medical Lasers

Nd:Ce:YAG laser crystal rods are laser crystals created by co-doping the YAG lattice with cerium (Ce) and neodymium (Nd). Asin Optics custom-manufactures Nd:Ce:YAG laser rod crystals for IPL and medical laser applications in China

Nd:Ce:YAG Laser Rod Crystals Product Discription

Nd:Ce:YAG laser crystal rods. By co-doping the YAG lattice with Cerium (Ce) and Neodymium (Nd), Cerium ions effectively absorb ultraviolet radiation from the flashlamp and transfer the energy non-radiatively to Neodymium ions. Consequently, these crystals feature high efficiency, a low lasing threshold, UV radiation resistance, and excellent high-repetition-rate characteristics. They are ideally suited for low-repetition-rate, air-cooled lasers and support various operating modes (pulsed, Q-switched, and mode-locked), finding widespread application in IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) systems and other compact, air-cooled laser devices.

Nd:Ce:YAG Laser Rod Crystals Key Features

  1. Under identical pumping conditions, Nd:Ce:YAG delivers higher output energy than standard Nd:YAG crystals.
  2. The YAG host matrix features high thermal conductivity, which minimizes thermal distortion and ensures reliable operation at high power levels.
  3. Acting as efficient charge traps, Ce³⁺ ions inhibit the formation of absorption centers caused by ultraviolet and ionizing radiation, ensuring stable output power even after millions of pulses.
  4. Nd and Ce doping concentration uniformity strictly controlled within ±10%
  5. Standard <111> orientation, with precision within 5°

Why Choosing Our Air Cooled Laser rod Crystals

  • Each Nd:Ce:YAG laser crystal rod undergoes rigorous manufacturing process control before leaving the factory to ensure high batch-to-batch consistency.
  • We use interferometers and surface profilometers to ensure that each crystal rod meets surface quality standards.
  • Customizable end-face configurations (flat/flat, wedged, Brewster angle)
  • We can customize different shapes, sizes, doping concentrations, and optical coatings according to customer requirements.
  • Available as single-crystal rods or diffusion-bonded composite rods (YAG / Nd:Ce:YAG / YAG)

Nd Ce YAG Laser Rod Crystals For IPL and Medical Lasers Applications

High-Intensity Pulsed, Q-Switched, and Picosecond Lasers

Conventional pure Nd:YAG crystals are prone to forming “color centers” due to ultraviolet (UV) absorption when subjected to high-frequency pumping by high-intensity xenon lamps. Nd:Ce co-doping introduces cerium (Ce) ions that absorb UV radiation from the pump light and transfer the energy to neodymium (Nd) ions. This process eliminates UV-induced degradation and improves pump light utilization efficiency, thereby reducing after-sales maintenance costs and the frequency of crystal replacement for medical aesthetic devices.

Air-Cooled Laser Systems

Traditional solid-state lasers require water-cooling circulation systems to operate. Nd:Ce:YAG crystals generate less heat and possess an exceptionally low lasing threshold, enabling the output of high-quality laser beams at lower pump energy levels. Consequently, laser systems can dispense with complex water-cooling setups in favor of air cooling or semiconductor-based heat dissipation.

Industrial Lasers

In industrial laser applications, the incorporation of Ce ions broadens the crystal’s absorption band relative to the pump source spectrum, thereby enhancing quantum efficiency. This allows for higher-energy laser output at the same power consumption, providing a stable light source for applications such as laser ranging and other detection instruments.
